Ligneous conjunctivitis is a rare form of conjunctivitis that occurs when a person’s conjunctiva, the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye, becomes inflamed. The condition is characterized by the formation of thick, yellow-white, woody masses on the conjunctiva. While it can affect both eyes, it usually affects one eye, with the right eye being more commonly affected than the left.
If you suspect that you or your child may have ligneous conjunctivitis, it is important to seek medical attention right away. Left untreated, the condition can lead to vision loss and other complications. With proper treatment, however, most people with ligneous conjunctivitis are able to manage their symptoms and maintain good eye health.
